Maui Ocean Club Review

Marriott’s Maui Ocean Club is the crown jewel in a beautiful collection of resorts that belong to the Marriott Vacation Club.  Why?  Because of the lush, meandering tropical grounds, it’s prime location, top notch accomodations and world class customer service.  Perfectly situated in the pulse of world renowned Kaanapali Beach, the Maui Ocean club provides endless opportunities for entertainment and de stressing.  Make the most of your vacation by enjoying all the many amenities and services that Marriott provides.

One of the amazing things about this resort are the pools.  There are two lagoon style pools and there is a breathtaking 3.5 acre pool replete with waterfalls, waterslides, kids play area with pirate schooner and jacuzzis.  The resort provides towel service for the pool towels, fitness center, concierge.

There are three restaurants on the property where you can order for breakfast, lunch or dinner.  You will have plenty of opportunity for food and drink purchases at the beach and pool.  Many guests will bring food to grill on the outdoor grills sprinkled around the resort’s grounds.

Kaanapali Beach is a splendid location because of the world-class shopping at the Whaler’s Village, just a short stroll from the resort.  There, you can dine at three sit down restaurants, five fast casual restaurants, or purchase snacks or drinks at another five locations including the yummy One Gelato Company with their world famous Island Style Key Lime Pie Gelato .  Whalers Village even has a Free Movie Night and an awesome Children’s Play Area.

A popular activity is to visit downtown Lahaina, which is only about a 15 minute drive, and Kapalua is 15 minutes from the resort, and there you will find breathtaking golf courses.  If golfing is your thing, there are a couple of golf courses much closer than Kapalua.  The incredible location in the heart of Kaanapali Beach boasts some of the nicest rooms with the best views on the island.  Magical Realty specializes in sales and rental at the Maui Ocean Club.  Many of us are former Marriott employees who can share the interesting history of this fine resort.

Marriott’s Maui Ocean Club began its life as the Kaanapali Marriott and it originally opened in the early 1980’s.  Marriott has since retrofitted and renovated those original hotel rooms into one bedroom, two bathroom units, and two bedroom, three bath units.  The odd configuration of bedrooms to bathrooms was made necessary by the limitations of converting it from a hotel to a timeshare.

The resort sold out very quickly, and Marriott decided to expand the campus southward with the Lahaina Tower and northward with the Napili Tower.  The Lahaina Tower features twelve oceanfront three bedroom luxury villas and numerous two bedroom luxury villas. Many of the villas can be locked off into studio and one bedroom villas.  The Napili Tower features ten oceanfront three bedroom luxury villas and around 60 two bedrooms villas. The one bedroom suites are about 810 square feet and feature a king bed in the master and a queen pullout in the living room. The two bedroom units are approximately 1200 square feet and offer a king bed in the master bedroom, a queen pullout in the living room, with a king bed and a queen pullout in the guest bedroom.  And the three bedroom units are about 1700 Square feet.

While in Maui, you must visit the Waianapanapa Black Sand Beach where you can explore the seaside lava tubes right on the beach, learn the legend of  Waianapanapa Caves and walk the King’s Highway, an ancient pathway used by the Maui royalty to traverse their empire.  If you come to Waianapanapa Black sand beach, there are dangerous currents, no lifeguard and often jellyfish, so swimming may be best left for the amazing pools back at the Marriott Vacation Club Maui Ocean Club Resort, the flagship of Marriott Vacation Club.
