Marriott’s Summit Watch Review

At Magical Realty, we love Park City, Utah and one of our absolute favorite ski resorts is
Marriott’s Summit Watch Resort.

It’s hard to beat the short commute of a 30-minute drive from the Salt Lake City airport
(SLC) that is all on highways. Even in snow, the ride is enjoyable. And the snow is the
biggest reason we love Park City. This area boasts “the greatest snow on earth” and it’s
also now the largest ski area in the United States of America, after Park City merged
with the Canyons recently. Snowbird, Alta and many other world-famous ski slopes are
in the immediate vicinity, making this a ski lover’s dream, especially with all the powder.

Location

Marriott’s Summit Watch Resort sets directly on Main Street in Park City, Utah. You will
not struggle finding great restaurants and bars just outside the resort on Main Street, as
the shopping dining and drinking are superb. Another reason this is one of our favorite
ski resorts is because the Town Lift is only a one minute walk from the resort, and
wouldn’t you know that Marriott offers free ski storage right at Town Lift, so you don’t
have to hump all your gear back and forth, every single day. That will make a big
difference, especially on your fourth 10-hour day shredding the slopes!
Marriott’s Summit Watch has one- and two-bedroom villas, that are, of course,
beautifully appointed. There is plenty of room for your family to spread out, play
games, find a quiet area to read and even cook a full course meal in the impressively
appointed kitchens. There isn’t a full grocery store on property, however there are
several provisional stores selling some items you may want to throw in the refrigerator
inside your unit at Marriott’s Summit Watch.

Many people never even bother to cook or load up the fridge, because of the world class
restaurants just outside the resorts perimeter, on Main Street. The last time we were there, we
dined at an amazing restaurant called YodaYoda and their chef had won many international
contests. It was a little hard to find, and smallish, so you may want to phone ahead to inquire
about reservations. You’ll need to eat well because of all the calories you’ll burn, both on the
slopes and around the resort. The resort staff does a world class job of providing fun and
interesting activities throughout the resort for you and you little ones. They even offer free wine
and beer tastings quite frequently

One of the best resort activities is the heated indoor / outdoor pool that your kids will
love. IT really and truly is quite warm with the heat turned on, even when below
freezing outside, it’s fun to swim outside and be warm amidst the gently falling snow.
It was magical. And it wouldn’t be a ski resort if it didn’t have lots of hot tubs to soak
those bones after a full day hitting the amazing slopes. Summit Watch has four hot
tubs and the largest one can easily fit a football team plus four coaches. We’re talking
fourteen or fifteen people, at least.

You will find the kids club and activity center is located in the pool area. It is very close
to the last building at the resort. Do you and your kids love video games, arts and crafts,
chess, checkers, air hockey, and various board games? Come on down to the activities
area, It is a well furnished area with many, many things to keep you, and your family
busy for hours on end.

You’ll want to sign up for ski lessons online early, as they can fill up. Also, there are
significant lift ticket discounts the earlier out you can book/purchase those lift tickets.
It’s always a good idea to purchase travel insurance…especially if you’re plunking down
lots of money on lift tickets and lessons.

Yep, no matter how you slice it, Park City Utah and the Marriott’s Summit Watch resort
are two of the marquee locations for true ski bums. Enjoy!
